Main idea for Primary Task
After sharing our idea with the whole class, we have decided to pick my idea of human clockwork dolls. The reason for us choosing this is because our feed back consisted on them saying this idea seems very different compared with other movies out there. We also chose this because from the start of finding out we were to this we have brainstormed different ideas that we can do, slowly building up our opening.
Together we have gathered ideas about how our piece will look, giving ideas such as using kaya's dollhouse and Megan's room. We have also come up with the idea that instead of using 2 different people as dolls, it would come across better if we used the same person just altering different things.
Another reason for us choosing this idea is because we think it's the most practical out of the three ideas and also works the best to build up the tension for our chosen genre; horror.

4) What is your opinion about horror films with blood/ no blood?
5)Do prefer horror film which make you physically jumpy or psychologically thrilling?
6) What do you except from a horror film?
7) Do you think if we were to film the "doll" and edited is as if it's an old fashioned film it would seem scary/ create tension?
8) What facial features do you think we should make our human doll look like? For example… A cut on the face?
9) What things do you think we could include creating a build up of tension?
10) What sound effects do you think would be scarier? Screaming or nursery rhyme?
camera shot words
Jump shot: A quick change in shot and context.
Eye line shot: When the character looks somewhere, the camera changes its positioned in the place of the character eyes.
Human clockwork dolls script idea...
This is what I came up for as my script, obviously at the beginning there will be gaps/ it will be spread out longer as this wouldn't take that long, also this is just a draft so If this idea is chosen, I will hope to be the director of it so I can produce this as well as possible, as no one can actually see into my head, also the narration script for the second part is just a draft and needs to be worked on, it's just a rough outline of what should be said. Also as shown by my screen shots from met notes app on my iPad, the title for my idea is yet to be discovered.
Audience response on the idea…
Mine: It's different from other horror films.
Kaya's idea: the Polaroid photos are a really good idea
Kaya's idea of the police showing the torture
Nursery rhyme is a good idea to create the horror
Need to think of the practicalities

Film opening story board
Megan's story board of her idea Prom disaster:
My story board of my idea Dolls
Kaya's story board of her idea Road trip gone wrong
Film opening initial ideas...
My idea was to do Human dolls (the title is un-known at this moment): this opening will consist of a fast past, quick cuts from scenes to scenes back and forth- to tell the horror story in a mind thrilling way- making people from the start have to pay attention.
The first minute, will consist of human dolls moving in sync- for example, pretending to brush hair, moving head side to side. These actions will be slowly and in time with a chosen nursery rhyme, to make an eery atmosphere/ feeling within the audience. This will cut to objects such as a doll house, pouring of china tea cups (maybe). These shots would be broken up with the credits shown on a chalkboard. I hope this part would have an old fashion looking filter on it- all grainy and shaky (like in the film Sinister when there is an old film shown.
The next minute can be someone running in a forest. Although throughout this clip, the character's face will not be seen. If it was an entire film, it would be continued that there was a murder and they are finding out whats happening and the dolls haunt the person trying to work it out- the same as sinister, just with dolls. The camera shots will go through running with them- quite far behind them, yet handheld, to imply the camera is the thing chasing them, this would mean when this camera technique is used, the person in charge of the camera will have to go behind trees and off path a bit. Another camera shot would be a still one , at floor level showing the characters feet running. At this point there isn't a nursery rhyme in the background, there will a slight heart beat which gets louder throughout the minute, there will also be the sound of breathing and the sound of the feet on the ground.
This will end with complete darkness and a scream.
Kaya's idea (copied from her blog linked here), The road trip gone wrong idea:
My idea is that four friends plan a road trip for the summer. There will be snapshots in forms of polaroids of them laughing, packing, getting food, in the car ect. The theme will seem happy and nonchalant.
The scene will play out as the girls are driving down a road late at night, there all be a camera shot from the inside of the car, over the drivers shoulder, as if it was a passenger looking out. The girls will see a man of whom is 'injured'. The man will be sticking his hand out needing to be 'helped'. one girl will say to keep driving, that its not safe fro them to pull over. The others will to want to pull over.
once one of the girls get out and go over to help the man, he will suddenly pull her round, have his hand over her mouth and knife to her neck. The other three girls ail scream, get out the car and one will attempt to call the police.
Two other men will come out and grab the girls however is the struggle of bad against good, one of the girls will manage to escape and runs.
Flashing, quick scenes of torture, harassment and abuse towards the girls of whom were kidnapped. Non- dietetic voice over of the girl who escaped will be describing the kidnppers to police whilst there are screen caps of the men.
Film officially starts when a police officer goes into a meeting to describe the abduction.
Megan's idea (copied from her blog linked here), the prom disaster idea:
My idea was the 'Prom Disaster' idea, in the first scene will be shot on a dolly walking down a school corridor - the camera will then stop and slowly approach a bloody hand print on the school wall - as the dolly approaches the blood print slow, creepy music will play and as the camera speeds up and reaches the blood print the music will fasten too and fade into a loud scream.
Next we will see a group of friends approaching the school ready for prom we will see the friends looking happy and excited for the night ahead, creating juxtaposition for the audience to the graphic blood hand print they were shown first of all. The friends will walk past the bloody hand print (at this point unaware as to why it is there) and begin to worry, however this will be shaken off as the decide it could just be a practical joke, however when they decide to carry on heading to prom through the corridor the music at the start will begin once again, and the back of a tall creepy man will be shown (his face will not be in shot - creating mystery) in his hand he will be holding a large weapon, perhaps a knife, dripping with blood - as he slowly starts to approach the prom door way. This could also be shot on a dolly.
Throughout the night one by one each friend will go missing, this will be shown through the use of fast pace shots and clips of teenagers screaming and blood splatters, creating tension and a thrilling atmosphere for the audience. It will end with the supposed killer's figure and a knife in their hand as the loud noise of a woman's scream calls out.

Film opening research…
BBFC research..
As we have decided to do a horror film opening, relating the idea of "dolls", it would be more of a psychological thriller rather than a gory horror. This is why we have decided in the age rating to be 15. If it were to be an 18, it would have much more blood, swearing and violence in. Although as dolls don't really bleed, the only blood will be from the victims.

Through research, we looked at other films similar to our idea- such as "Annabelle" which is also a 15.
These are all the possible film classifications we could have chosen...
The U symbol stands for Universal. This shows that the film should be suitable for all ages over the age of 4 years old.

This is a screen shot I got from the BBFC website. This shows how violence doesn't really appear in a U.
The reason our film opening would defiantly not be a U is because it would be very likely to upset ages below around 14- depending on the individual.
Films classify as a U include...
Disney films are most likely rated at a U. This just supports the point that our film can't be a U.
PG stands for Parental guidance. A PG film shouldn't unsettle a child aged 8 years or above. It's the parents who can decide whether it is suitable for their child- a parent had to be present with very young viewers.
Horror films wouldn't be considered as a PG. Thus making our film not suitable for a PG.
Even though horror films can be a 12, as shown above, the horror can't be too frequent- this wouldn't work with our ideas because otherwise it wouldn't create enough tension which is needed.
As shown at the top of this blog post, this is the age we are classifying our film as a 15.

We do not want our film to be classified as an 18 because we do not want it so that it is a "sustained threat". We also don't think it would be a good idea idea to make it unseeable for those aged around15.
